The energy supply in 2030 will be different

By 2030, the energy supply will have changed significantly. The contours of the national transition agreement, which was drawn up by the Social and Economic Council (SEC), clearly point in that direction. In the meantime, both market and customer focus are essential. For grid operators, this requires a change in their way of working, based on the vision that the energy supply in 2030 will be different in the following elements:

  • The energy supply will be integrated, sustainable, more decentralized and European and new energy sources will have been developed.
  • The customer has a need for privacy, has freedom of choice as to whether and how he is active in the energy supply (only as a consumer or also as a co-producer) and can opt for different service levels. Compared to now, there will be many new companies, services, products and propositions.
  • Grid operators proactively facilitate the free energy market by timely adjusting the characteristics of their grids and services. They offer services that lead to system optimization across energy carriers.
  • It is no longer about an electricity grid, a gas grid and a heating/cooling grid, but these grids merge into 'the energy grid'.
  • Grid operators make intensive use of data communication to quickly respond to customer needs.
